“The Challenge of Modernism: Vienna and Zagreb around 1900” in Vienna up to Feb. 18th
From 1867 to 1918 the Austro-Hungarian Empire had Vienna as its center of power. Budapest was also important but not as much as Vienna.
In the years around the turn of the 20th Century the multi-ethnic realm of the Habsburg Monarchy experienced a lively exchange of art and culture between Vienna and the main cities of the Crown such as Zagreb. This exchange was very significant for the development of Croatian art and culture.
