The globally acclaimed immersive exhibition Gustav Klimt: The Immersive Experience will officially open in Budapest in five days time, welcoming visitors into the dazzling universe of one of the world’s most iconic painters. This high-tech showcase breathes life into Klimt’s most celebrated masterpieces—The Kiss, Lady with a Fan, and Death and Life—through stunning digital projections, detailed installations, and multisensory environments. Set in a 2,000-square-meter space, the experience offers a vivid journey into the golden age of Viennese Art Nouveau. Guests can stroll through a symbolic “golden tunnel,” uncover layers of Klimt’s richly textured paintings, and immerse themselves in the lush visual world shaped by the son of an Austrian goldsmith. Combining art, history, and innovation, the exhibition invites all generations to connect with the enduring magic of Klimt in a way that is as enlightening as it is unforgettable.

The interactive exhibition Gustav Klimt: The Immersive Experience opens to the public this May in Budapest. It promises to transport visitors into the mesmerizing world of the Austrian painter through cutting-edge digital technology. Over a century after his death, Klimt’s art continues to captivate audiences around the globe.

Housed in a 2,000-square-meter venue, the exhibition showcases some of Klimt’s most iconic works, including Lady with a Fan, Death and Life, and the universally recognized The Kiss. This last painting, possibly Klimt’s most reproduced piece, has fascinated viewers for decades with its romantic symbolism and rich golden tones. The exhibition goes beyond simply displaying reproductions—it invites viewers to step inside the artworks. Two large-scale, detailed installations allow for an in-depth exploration of The Kiss, breaking down its layers and inviting personal interpretation.

One of the highlights of the exhibit is the golden tunnel—a glowing, immersive passage every visitor walks through. The radiant gold, a hallmark of Klimt’s style, is not only visually stunning but also central to his artistic identity. This visual motif reappears throughout the exhibit in different forms and scales, echoing the artist’s fascination with Byzantine mosaics and his innovative use of gold leaf.

Dozens of Klimt’s paintings are reproduced across various formats throughout the exhibition, offering visitors a chronological and thematic journey through his life and work. A spacious immersive hall allows people to lie back on lounge chairs and take in panoramic projections of Klimt’s art in high definition, accompanied by ambient music that enhances the dreamlike atmosphere.

Adding to the experience, a virtual reality segment gives guests a chance to explore Klimt’s universe in an even more dynamic way. This digital experience breathes life into the details of his Art Nouveau masterpieces, many of which remain culturally relevant and popular today—frequently appearing on everything from fashion items to tattoos.

The immersive Klimt experience has already toured cities across two continents, engaging audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Its arrival in Budapest comes courtesy of the same team that successfully brought immersive exhibitions of Van Gogh and Monet to Hungary, as well as the beloved Lufiland production.

According to Dudi Bercovici, CEO of Hadran Events, the company behind the event, this exhibition is designed to reveal the mind of a timeless artist. “It speaks to both seasoned museumgoers and a younger audience discovering Klimt for the first time. We’re proud to bring such a high-caliber cultural experience to Budapest. Whether you’re a lifelong admirer or just curious, this will be something truly special.”

With its mix of immersive technology, art history, and aesthetic wonder, Gustav Klimt: The Immersive Experience invites visitors to do more than look at art—it invites them to feel it.
