“Eternally New: The Art Nouveau World of Alphonse Mucha”, in Virginia from Oct. 19
The Taubman Museum of Art is excited to showcase the works of Alphonse Mucha, the visionary behind the Art Nouveau movement, in a new ticketed exhibition titled *”Eternally New: The Art Nouveau World of Alphonse Mucha.” It will be on display from October 19th until March 16th. For all information on this exhibit click HERE.
The exhibition features approximately 50 original pieces, including posters, books, lithographs, sculptures, and more, borrowed from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond. Alongside Mucha’s works, the show includes fascinating period items from regional collections, such as a vintage penny-farthing bicycle, elegant couture dresses, and exquisite jewelry.
Art Nouveau, an iconic international art and architectural style, gained immense popularity in Paris during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Mucha’s influence is undeniable, resonating across generations. His distinctive style has inspired everything from the psychedelic posters of the Grateful Dead, to the 1960s “Flower Power” movement, and even contemporary tattoo designs.
In addition to the art on display, visitors will be treated to an immersive experience straight from the Grand Palais in Paris. The Taubman Museum is proud to be the first institution outside Europe to host this interactive journey, marking the beginning of its U.S. tour.
Be among the first to see this extraordinary exhibit and immersive experience during the Opening Celebration on Saturday, October 19. Tickets are available for purchase in advance.
