The Art Nouveau dome of the iconic Parisian galleries transforms into the stage for an exclusive gastronomic celebration.

Galeries Lafayette is poised to mark its 130th anniversary with an array of events and experiences as distinguished as the building itself. Among the most anticipated surprises is the breathtaking installation of a suspended dining table beneath the famous Art Nouveau dome of the galleries. This unique Parisian experience combines gastronomy, art, and history in a setting like no other.

A Elevated Table for a Grand Celebration

Access to this exclusive dining experience will be determined by a strict lottery, offering a select few the chance to enjoy one of the five daily tastings from September 21 to October 1, 2024. Lucky diners will be treated to a gastronomic experience from a suspended table with exceptional views of the Art Nouveau splendor inside Galeries Lafayette. Whether for lunch, tea, or dinner, each occasion will be accompanied by Moët & Chandon champagne. Unlike Paris’s most vibrant dining spots, this table is free of charge but requires prior registration and a lottery win.

Visitors can enjoy five daily seatings for lunch, snacks, or dinner at this unique installation, offering a panoramic view of the store’s beauty area. The menu features delectable food paired with Moët & Chandon champagne, all complemented by a breathtaking setting. While the experience itself is free of charge, participants will need to cover the cost of their meal or snack, with access granted through a registration and draw process.

As for birthday presents, Galeries Lafayette is in for a treat! Renowned fashion names such as Victoria Beckham, Isabel Marant, AMI Paris, Marine Serre, and many others have designed exclusive items for the occasion. From t-shirts and hoodies to tote bags and collectible notebooks or lighters in the anniversary colors, these eco-friendly, Made-in-France essentials range from €5 to €95. You can find these special items in a dedicated pop-up on the 3rd floor. And don’t miss out—Lacoste and Polo Ralph Lauren are also joining the celebration with limited-edition polo shirts and sweatshirts!

Gastronomic Pop-Ups for Galeries Lafayette’s 130th Anniversary

Marking 130 years as a symbol of Parisian fashion and French savoir-vivre is no small feat, so Galeries Lafayette has teamed up with the effervescence of Moët & Chandon. The renowned brand is showcasing limited-edition versions of its iconic bottles: Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial (€44.90), Rosé Impérial (€53.90), and Mini Moët & Chandon (€15), all displayed on an elegant central podium surrounded by immersive scenery.

Another highlight of the celebration is the pop-up from La Pâtisserie Cyril Lignac, located in the gourmet area from September 11 to January 28. Under the direction of chefs Cyril Lignac and Benoit Couvrand, visitors can savor exclusive pastry creations made for the occasion, including the famous Ourson Guimauve XL, a unique sweet combining milk and marshmallow.

A Building That Defines an Era: The Legacy of Galeries Lafayette

From a modest 70-square-meter haberdashery established in 1893 by Alsatian cousins Théophile Bader and Alphonse Kahn at the corner of Rue La Fayette and Chaussée d’Antin, to the current opulent flagship of Galeries Lafayette, there is a story of ambition and luxury that unfolds. The dream of a high-end bazaar bathed in golden light, illuminating the grand hall and making the displayed goods sparkle, has been realized in this iconic structure.

The grand dome has become an architectural emblem and one of Paris’s most iconic landmarks. It was only removed during World War II to prevent its destruction from bombings. Today, the dome hosts the central event of the 130th-anniversary celebrations of Galeries Lafayette, now recognized as the most luxurious department store in the world.
