Our journey begins at the Postsparkasse, a masterpiece by Otto Wagner, where we will delve into its architectural significance. We will then take public transport to the Museum of Applied Arts (MAK), where you’ll explore an impressive collection of early 20th-century works, including paintings, illustrations, and furniture by renowned artists such as Gustav Klimt and Josef Hoffmann.
Next, we’ll head to Karlsplatz Underground Stations, another iconic example of Wagner’s work, before continuing to the Otto Wagner Houses at Wienzeile, where you’ll discover the beauty of his innovative facades and designs.
Unlike other tours that focus solely on facades, our experience takes you inside key buildings, offering a deeper understanding of Art Nouveau’s style and its cultural context through visits to museums and interiors. This is a rare opportunity to fully appreciate the significance of this transformative period in Viennese design.
You’ll explore the design elements and cultural significance of the Art Nouveau movement, learning how it rejected Austria’s imperial past through innovative works by visionary artists like Otto Wagner.
